About Lyn

Thanks for visiting my blog!  I am a wife, mom of a charismatic 10-yr old son and 7-yr-old daughter, and connected leader and learner. After teaching fifth and sixth grades in both elementary and middle school settings for nine years, I served as a K-6 principal from 2008-2012. My next professional adventure was working as an elementary instructional technology integrator/coach, which afforded me the chance to continue to design and facilitate professional development for district staff as well as push into classrooms to help students learn how to use technology in meaningful and inspiring ways.

In 2016 I resigned to focus on motherhood and my passion helping teachers grow professionally. Hilt Consultants, LLC, was formed in 2016 with my husband, and together we hope to inspire teachers and administrators in the field of educational technology and leadership. We are also both Google for Education Certified Trainers. We offer everything from keynotes to workshops to small group trainings to virtual consulting and online learning opportunities. Please visit our website to learn more and also visit my Testimonials page. During this time I continued to be involved in aspects of school leadership including designing professional development, serving as an adjunct college instructor, designing hybrid graduate courses, and facilitating online learning opportunities.

In 2017 I was honored to join the Modern Learners team, and I served as the Modern Learners Community manager and online courses director. If you’re an educational leader or aspiring leader who is truly looking to make real, sustainable change in schools, then our community is the place for you. MLC offers carefully curated content to help you find signal among the noise, a community of critical friends to support your change efforts, and a team of forward-thinking educators that challenge your thinking about the needs of today’s modern learner. Join us!

In December 2019 I accepted a position as Program Administrator with the Berks County Intermediate Unit, where I serve as STEM and online learning lead, and design and facilitate powerful professional learning for the educators in our region.

I’m a fan of learning more about innovative teaching and learning, connecting with other educators to share ideas, traveling with my family, getting crafty and memory making, and reading and learning every day.

  1. Hi Lyn,
For the past 8 years I have been the Library media Specialist at an elementary school and absolutely love it. I noticed that you teach online courses to students. I would love to teach online as well. I have my Masters in Education with certificate in Library Science. Do you have any recommendations on how to move forward in applying for an on-line position?

  2. Hi, Lyn. I enjoyed reading your blog during/after our time in #ETMOOC and learning from/with you. You have been a thoughtful, transparent writer, and I’ve appreciated that. Congratulations on becoming a new mom and transitioning to a new role that will probably give you more time and energy with your sweet child. I’m sure your school will miss your leadership as a principal, but enjoy connecting with you in a new way. Blessings to you and your family as you move in this new direction. I look forward to reading more as you write about your new journey.
